How does one define a family? In today’s modern world, a family is no longer just mommy, daddy and the kids. A family today includes single parents, unmarried couples with kids, grandparents and children or grand children. Even pets are now part of modern families. I know of at least two women who refer to their pets as their sons! What would happen if their pet died? I’ve always thought that pets are often buried in the backyard, but lately, I was surprised to see that there were now pet urns available. I saw a pewter pet urn online the other day; it made me wonder how far pet owners would go to keep a piece of their beloved pet.

I was amazed to say the least. First of all the thought of a pet urn took some getting used to, and the fact that people would actually buy them was even more amusing. But then I thought of my neighbor who lived alone with her cat. She loved her cat and I guess I would not be surprised if she got her cat a pet urn as well.
