Dog skin allergies

As in cats, dogs may suffer from conditions of the skin that can be irritating. Dog skin allergies may be caused by parasites or contact with allergic materials. In both cases, determining the cause is of utmost priority and importance. Oftentimes, it is not easy and fast to get results. In the meantime, it will benefit the dog if remedial measures are applied. The following measures are steps that can be taken, but a professional’s help is still needed especially when it comes to medication that should be taken or applied.

~Wash the dog to remove the irritant.
~Provide topical relief with anti-histamine and/or hydrocortisone medications.
~Provide relief with oral medications.
~Limit exposure to the suspected irritant.
~Provide supplementation.
