There are dog lovers and there are cat lovers. Of course, there are those who will cuddle any kind of pet: dogs, cats, horses, even pigs. I am a dog lover. Not from childhood because I was so afraid of dogs when I was a child. I became a dog lover when I had kids and read all those parenting books saying that taking care of pets is good for kids. I did not even like all the dogs that we had and they came one after another.

Up until we had this dog that became to me like the son that I never had. I guess the reason was I took special notice of him and extended better care and he appreciated that. I enjoyed indulging him with all the food that he loved and buying him all the trappings of a pampered dog’s designer dog leashes, dog toys and bath things. He had a soft sided dog crate for when he wanted time for himself but he had free reign of the house. And yet he was so disciplined he never wanted to climb the sofa or mess things up. I guess it is true that love begets love even between master and pet.
